Camp Groupings:
Level One “The Slicers” Players ages 6-9 (current Solaris JDP players) will make up this group. Players within this group will be separated on court by experience level. Campers in this group will range from beginner (0-1 year experience) through low-intermediate (1-3 years experience). Weekly emphasis will be placed on developing correct form, technique, and understanding of basic strokes. Consistency, target, and rally games will be used to build confidence and gross motor skills. All players will be taught how to serve, return, and keep score. Basic footwork, agility, and coordination drills will be conducted during fitness.
Level Two “The Dicers” Players ages 10-14 (current JDP & Academy). Players within this group will be separated on court by experience level. All players in this group should have at least 3 years of tennis lesson experience. Weekly emphasis will be placed on footwork, net game, and continued stroke development. Live ball drilling will be used in conjunction with dead ball drills to provide for the optimal training experience. A weekly tournament will be used for match play in singles and doubles. Fitness will consist of speed/ agility/ and core strength.
Daily Camp Routine
- 9:00am: Early drop off available.
- 9:30am: Camp Begins, stretch, warm-up, and morning agenda.
- 9:45am: “Stroke of the Day”. Proper grips, stance, and strategic use of particular strokes (age & level appropriate).
- 10:00am: “Skills & Drills”. Focus on teaching proper technique and footwork. Dead-ball drills with consistency charts, and stroke goals.
- 11:00am: Camp break (15min older level/ 30min younger level).
- 11:15/11:30am: Live Ball Games and Drills
- Noon: Lunch Break (half day campers leave).
- 1:00pm: Afternoon Session Begins. Level appropriate dead ball net drills, volleys, overheads.
- 1:45pm: Match Play for older group. Consistency, Rally and Target games for younger group.
- 2:30pm: Color War Games
- 3:30pm: Age/Level appropriate Fitness Routine.
- 4:00pm: Camp Ends, Pick-Up. Late pick-up available until 4:30pm
Camp Dates & Prices
Camp must be purchased in weekly sessions. Players are not allowed to break up weeks. Make-up days are at the sole discretion of the Director and are not guaranteed.
